We are always happy to see pictures of Woodford’s past. This collection of pictures was contributed by Ann Walker (nee Wilson) and by Martyn Wheeldon. Click on the pictures for a bigger photo.
- Ann Wilson’s father’s shop on the corner of Station Road & Cherwell Terrace. Owned by them from 1947 to 1968, they lived over the shop until 1955 when they moved to Church Street.
- Ann was a member of the Brownies. This photo shows Woodford Brownies with Brown Owl Joyce Bedford (nee Cobley) and a group of my aunt’s brownies from St James Northampton.
- The village carnival in 1952.
- The carnival queen is Audrey Bailey (Cammock) the 2 older attendants are Phyllis Fennell and Molly Sanders (Lucas). The young ones are Maureen Freeman (Morson)and Ann Walker (Wilson)

- Ann was one of the “Merry Comrades” and she believes that all of the others were too. They had many outings to the theatre trips to Wickstead park too.

- From 1953, a pageant held in the Vicarage garden to celebrate the Queen’s coronation
- Nesta Shaw was Elizabeth 1 her attendants were Bridgid O’Connor, Judith Webb, Maureen Radford and Ann..
- The band for the pageant included Ann’s brither John (nearest the camera).
