Library Consultation Closing

Don’t forget that Northampton County Council’s consultation on Library Services closes on January 13th.

There is still time to make your views known here:-

NCC Consultation on Libraries

All of the options proposed involve the closure of Woodford’s library but the Parish Council is exploring the possibility of running a community library. Pat Darby is leading this initiative for the Parish Council.

Library Meeting Info

At the recent public meeting on the future of the library in Woodford Halse, a presentation was given highlighting the costs and usage of the Library and the proposals put forward for consultation by Northants County Council.

A copy of that presentation is available here: Library Meeting 11th December 2017 Presentation.

Please note when reading this that the document has been compiled from a Powerpoint presentation and so on some pages images may overlay text from the preceding page.

Also provided are Councillor Gary Denby’s summary of the meeting which was provided to Councillors for the Parish Council Meeting on 12th December. This gives much useful background data and summarises the action points: Summary of Library Meeting 11th December 2017

Subsequent to the meeting Parish Council took the decision to explore the option of a Community Library.

Children’s Centre To Close?

County Council Consultation Needs Your Say : Deadline 28/04/16.

As a result of cuts made to the budget, intended to meet austerity targets, Northamptonshire County Council intends to make changes to the way that Children’s Centre services are delivered.

The County Council consultation asks for your views and opinions about the changes that they are proposing to make to Children’s Centres in the county. Included in this is a proposal to cease using the current Children’s Centre and instead deliver services via the library on a “part-time basis”.

image009You can read the proposals in this document: Children’s Centre Consultation Proposals. (The part about Woodford Halse is on page 10.)

You can take part in the consultation here: Children’s Centre Consultation Survey or in writing or by email with details on the County Council’s web site.

Responses to the proposals must be received by 28th April 2016.
