The Woodford Country Fair Committee is already getting into the royal spirit as they make preparations for this year’s Country Fair and Classic Vehicle Rally.

Country Fair WOW may 2016

All is set for a day of celebrations, not only marking the Queen’s 90th birthday but also our 10th year in the delightful setting of The Mill House, West Farndon. So don’t worry if you haven’t got your invite to the garden party at Buck Palace this year; come along on Saturday 11th June,1-8pm, to enjoy traditional and new delights at the Country Fair.

Judging will take place on the lawn at 1.45pm with a prize of £20, plus the lucky winner will cut the first slice of our giant 90th birthday cake.

IMG_0031This will also be the last year at The Mill House (many thanks to Josephine and Jeremy for 10 years hospitality) so please join us for this special community day. Whether you enjoy perusing the classic vehicles, seeking out unique products among the stalls, taking a cream tea on the lawn while the kids are entertained by ‘Mr Crumble’ or relaxing with a beer and burger while listening to the bands, we have something for everyone. And with all proceeds going to St Mary’s and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, a rewarding day all round!

More Cross Country News

Carl Barton, our PCSO, has passed on the following advice….

“Woodford Halse Primary school will be hoisting their annual cross country event on Wednesday 9th March from 4pm until 5.30pm. The event is county wide and will have around 600 children taking part this year.

“As you can imagine with the number of children attending this event, there have been issues with traffic in the past, mainly due to parents bringing their children to the event and parking their vehicles in the village.

“This year I intend to cone off some roads. The junction of Byfield Road and Scrivens Hill will be coned off.

“The school are expecting 7 coaches which will be parked at the Football Fields.

“Thank you in advance for your patience.”

As part of the vehicle rally the Fair will run a “Pride of Woodford Cup”. So, if you’ve got a classic hidden in your garage why not bring it along?

The classic vehicle rally is free entry this year, and if you pre-register your vehicle more than two weeks in advance you will receive two free entry tickets to the country fair as well.

To book your place, just email countryfair@talktalk.net with your contact details and the subject line “Classic Rally”.

The Woodford Halse Country Fair, lasts all afternoon, including a raffle with £250 cash first prize, bar and BBQ. There are many attractions for the whole family, reflecting the farm animal and country theme, with Punch and Judy, inflatables, magician, ice cream and many trade stalls, tempting you with head massages, hand made goods, cakes and garden produce, to name a few. There will be a battle of the bands of local young talent, starting at 3pm, followed by a full evening of live music.
