Although the Signpost is published by the Parish Council and is concerned mainly with local government issues we want to do all we can to promote local businesses and to let residents know about businesses in the area.

In order to do this we publish a directory of local businesses with details of how to reach them and we are always happy to get new ones to add.

The Parish Council does not recommend any business but you can find details of businesses based in the village or serving the village here. We also have a sheet showing opening times which we try to keep up to date. Any local business can let us know their details.

You can also find out about local employment opportunities here. We are always happy to post details of local jobs if asked to.

Admin Officer

The post holder will work closely with the Parish Clerk but will have specific responsibility for ensuring that all property owned by the Parish is maintained in a safe and secure condition, to manage the booking of community halls and equipment and to maintain the Parish Asset Register. Additional training will be provided for the right candidate. The post holder will be based in the Village Centre but some home working will be required.

Salary: £4772.60 per year  (SCP 13 – £9.039 per hour)

Hours of work: 44 hours per month –times/day to be agreed but some flexibility is required

This role requires you to work with and deputise for the Farm Shop Manager to ensure that the tearoom operates efficiently and provides an excellent standard of customer service at all times.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist and deputise for the Limes Farm Shop Manager to ensure the smooth running of the tearoom and farm shop operation
  • Supervise the FOH team, providing coaching, training and support as required, to ensure excellent customer service is maintained at all times
  • Help with any area of the Tearoom operation where circumstances dictate, including waiting; till operation; coffee making; food preparation and cleaning;
  • Maintain high standards of quality control, hygiene, and health and safety
  • Support on and off-site catering events

The successful candidate will have proven leadership or supervisory experience, ideally within a Hospitality or Retail environment and have the ability to lead; develop and motivate a small team of FOH assistants.

Enthusiastic and driven, you’ll have a passion for providing the highest levels of customer service and a willingness to take a hands-on approach. You will also be well organised, thrive under pressure and be comfortable working on your own initiative. This role requires the successful candidate to have the ability to flex their hours of work to meet the changing needs of the business.

Job Opportunity : Bullworthy

T R Bullworthy Ltd is a market leading supplier of Garage Equipment, with a 27 year history located in the village.

They are looking for Garage Equipment engineers to join their team of specialists who install, repair and maintain our range of products including vehicle lifts, and MOT test equipment including brake testers, headlamp testers, gas analysers and smoke meters. Previous experience of Garage Equipment products would be an advantage.

Engineers work on all types of garage equipment including two & four post lifts, brake testers, gas & smoke analysers, wheel balancers, headlamp aligners, waste oil equipment, tyre changers and other miscellaneous equipment.

The Ideal Candidate would ideally:-

  • Have a good working knowledge and experience of installation, maintenance, inspection and breakdown repair of Garage Equipment in a field service environment or e a multi-skilled mechanical engineer with pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical expertise, and a proven ability to deliver excellent quality of service to customers. .
  • Have the ability to install equipment working from manufacturers’ instruction manuals and our CAD drawings.
  • Be flexible and willing to work overtime and occasional weekends as requested.
  • Be self-motivated.
  • Be customer focussed.
  • Possess a positive “can-do” attitude towards solving customer problems.
  • Be confident and able to work under your own initiative.
  • Have excellent communication skills – dealing with colleagues and customers at all levels.

Description of Duties:

  • Carry out installation, examination, test, repair and calibration of a wide range of Garage Equipment products including vehicle lifts, brake testers, gas analysers and smoke meters.
  • Ensuring control of your own van stock to meet prompt repair deadlines.
  • The continued development of skills required ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard
  • Occasionally stay overnight away from home.

Please note, a full clean UK driving licence is essential. In return they will provide an attractive salary, kitted out van with fuel card, branded workwear and PPE, mobile phone and necessary test equipment.

Hours of work:

Monday to Friday 8.15 – 5.15pm with half an hour for lunch and two 15 minute breaks. There will be some overtime, and occasional weekend work required.


Excellent levels of pay dependant on skills, technical knowledge and experience.
Holiday entitlement: 28 days inclusive of Bank Holidays.
