10/20 Parish Council Report

Vacancies for Councillors

Parish Councillor Robyn Davison has provided a report on Tuesday’s meeting…

The Parish Council met on Tuesday 13th October for their monthly council meeting. The meeting was held via Zoom, with the vice-chair hosting the meeting in the absence of the chair, Kay Coles.

There was a full agenda, with reports from the Estates and Woodlands committee. The council agreed to purchase a ceiling mounted projector for the Memorial Hall, and deferred the purchase of this equipment to the 21/22 financial year.

The council also discussed the costs of keeping the public conveniences’ at Kings Corner open, with many councillors in favour of doing so, as it was felt this was a valued facility in the centre of the village. This will be discussed again at the November meeting of the council.

Two of our Councillors, Peter Deverill and Pat Knight, handed in their resignations, as they were moving out of the village. They were thanked for the work that they had done for the council. Peter has delivered a substantial project to replace all of our streetlighting with more modern and cost efficient lights. Pat, has been the council’s highway liaison, working on safer routes to school and speedwatch.

Their resignations have created two vacancies on the council, and anyone interested in these posts are asked to contact the Parish Clerk, Gary Smith, on 01327 261169 or parishclerk@woodfordcummembris-pc.org.

These vacancies will also be posted on the parish noticeboards and in the WOW.

I’m not sure anyone from the Parish Council can help because council housing is run by the district council (Daventry D C here). All the Parish Council can do is to speak up for social housing locally when developments are proposed. DDC housing dept are the people you need to talk to.
