Daventry District Development Control Recommends Refusing Planning Consent

save our surgery logoA letter has been sent to those that commented on the planning application affecting the future of Byfield Surgery saying that the Daventry District Council Development Control Manager is to recommend that the DDC Planning Committee on 15th January refuse the application. No reasons for the recommendation are given in the letter but it refers to the report which is now available below.

A copy of the letter is available here.

A copy of the report to the planning committee with the recommendation is available here.

This makes it all the more important that as many as possible attend to the meeting in order to show local support for the application. Details of the procedure for the meeting are also included in the letter above.

The Planning Officer seems to be mistakenly swayed by the Highways Authority, or else they are terrified by this quango. It is VITAL that this Planning Application goes through. All of you please email the Chairman of Byfield Parish council:-
Also, join all those going to the Planning Meeting at Daventry District Council offices at 6:15 pm on Wednesday..

Utterly ridiculous – are they guaranteeing that all the residents that rely on this surgery will be able to register with surrounding surgeries and also be able to provide free transport for those without their own?
I can’t find any residents, who are directly affected by this, in opposition to the surgery- it only appears to be the council.

What the hell are Daventry council thinking about by refusing planning permission for a replacement Medical Centre at Byfield.. We at Eydon rely on the Byfield Medical as there is no bus service to Daventry so we would to hire a taxi at great expence. So perhaps Daventry Council would like to pay for a taxi service to take the eldery who don’t have a car for their appointments the eight miles to Daventry. . We have a wonderful service at Byfield Medical Centre which is second to none so I HOPE ALL OF YOU ON DAVENTRY COUNCIL WILL VOTE IN FAVOUR OF IT

I believe this is a very short sighted view and cannot understand how this proposal cannot be supported by Byfield Parish Council. Where will existing patients go to see a Doctor, we already suffer from lack of services in our village of Eydon so please explain why consideration is not given to patients old and new and where the nearest surgery will be in the future.
