Excavations on the Edgecote Battlefield

For those interested in local archaeology. Fusion, HS2’s contractors, have published details of the archaeological investigation work that they will be carrying out in the Edgcote area.

Trenches will be dug in areas that are thought to have been part of the 1469 Wars of the Roses battlefield.

According to the Battlefields Trust, Edgcote is on of the less well understood battles of the period, so it must be hoped that these investigations add to our knowledge of this local historical event.
