Police Are Looking For Advice

Community Members Needed For Independent Advisory Group

Northamptonshire Police LogoDaventry and South Northants Neighbourhood Police are currently looking for people in the community to become members of the Independent Advisory Group (IAG).  The IAGs were first introduced in 1999 following Stephen Lawrence enquiry and the recommendations of the subsequent report.

The group forms a vital role in building trust and confidence between the community and the police, particularly for ‘hard to reach’ groups.

The IAG is a body of volunteers from various backgrounds that advise  Northamptonshire Police as a ‘critical friend’ in a wide range of policing activities, from strategic advice about policy to tactical and operational advice.

The qualities we are looking for in our IAG members are the ability to be open-minded, to act independently of the police and to have no political links or extreme views.

The IAG meets at least every 2 months to provide an overall briefing on matters.  The meeting is chaired by Inspector Tracy Moore, Neighbourhood Inspector for Daventry and South Northants.

The role is interesting and rewarding and need not be onerous.

For more details please see this document: Role & Purpose of the IAG  If you are interested in being part of this group please contact Katrina Heath by Wednesday 7 August,  email details are: katrina.heath@northants.pnn.police.uk
