Saturday’s Breakfast Sorted.
News from Tim Williams about this weekend and the Byfield Big Breakfast….

“The wait is almost over! Just four more sleeps before the next one – yes, it’s another Byfield Big Breakfast this coming Saturday (6th February)!
“Somebody asked me recently where we purchased all the supplies for the Big Breakfast, and it occurred to me, it was probably time to re-iterate that we endeavour to support local business wherever possible. So, all our meat items – bacon, sausages, and black pudding are supplied by Marriotts of Woodford; all our eggs are supplied by Skylark Fields farm at Staverton and everything else is supplied on the back of a wagon, which arrives at my house late on a Friday courtesy of Mr. Tesco. I know that it’s then my work starts when Lynne and I sit down to prepare 15 or 16 kg of mushrooms ready for the onslaught on Saturday! We have tried sourcing mushrooms locally, but the one obvious supplier in Moreton Pinkney was not able to supply us at a price which suited our budget. If anyone knows an alternative supplier, I’d be very pleased to consider them.
“Back to the business in hand – our menu on Saturday remains unchanged – we will still offer you bacon, sausage, black pudding, fried bread, beans, mushrooms and fried or scrambled eggs. The cost of this extravaganza including a choice of fruit juices to start and tea/coffee and toast to finish is STILL ONLY £6 per head for adults! Children can choose two cooked items from all the above with the addition of cereal to the fruit juices for just £3 per head. By the way – don’t forget, we ALWAYS have vegetarian sausages available, so vegetarians can have a real treat. Sadly, I haven’t managed to find any vegetarian bacon yet, but I’m looking.
“We hope you’ll continue to support us in your droves as we still need to raise money for the Holy Cross Action Project (whose latest scheme is for the Servery in the Church).
“So, do join us for breakfast or brunch or even treat it as lunch if you like! We’re open from 9 a.m. and close at 1 p.m. with last orders taken at 12.30. Once again I must remind you that we tend to get busiest between 11.30 and 1. So, whilst we make every effort to serve you swiftly, the service tends to slow a bit during those times!
