Our PCSO Carl Barton’s Report on Local Crime & Police Issues

Crime is down in Woodford Halse. There has been no reported burglaries, theft of, or criminal damage in the village for just over  two months now and long may it continue.

There have been concerns from residents of HGV’s driving through the village during the development of the new house builds on the Byfield Road. Highways have been contacted and although there is no weight limit or width restriction in the village, they have agreed to send some temporary advisory signing to indicate “Unsuitable for Heavy Goods Vehicles” which will be given to the Parish Council to be erected at appropriate locations within the village to deter HGV’s accessing unsuitable routes for the duration of the development works within the village.

Can I just remind you that the white lines outside the chemist and the post office are there for a reason. Parking on these lines will cause an obstruction to a dropped kerb, inconvenience other road users and cause an unnecessary obstruction to pedestrians. If caught you could receive penalty points and/or a fine of up to £60. You have been warned.

I hold police surgeries in the village library on the first and last Tuesday of the month, 3.30pm until Feel free to pop in to talk about crime prevention or  anything that may concern you, all in the strictest confidence.
