Commemorative Village Clock
In case you hadn’t spotted it, the new village clock is now installed, although it’s not yet working. (apart from half six in the morning and at half six in the evening!). It still needs its electrics and will be given its official unveiling at the Woodford Regatta on 26th June. Many thanks to Councillor Darren Bennetts and his good builder friend Mr Clive Thomas, for their hard work over the Bank Holiday weekend for putting it in place.
Commissioned last year to commemorate 100 years since the start of the First World War, the poppy-red clock face takes pride of place on the front of the Memorial Hall together with a wind vane depicting a British “Tommy”.
The Memorial Hall is built on the site of the ex-serviceman’s hall, originally built in 1929.
