Happy New Year All!
Tim Williams has sent a somewhat belated reminder about the first Big Breakfast of the New Year at Byfield.
This is an absolute MUST for your New Year calendar – so, get along on this coming Saturday, 3rd January – any time from 9.00 ’til 1.00 in Byfield Village Hall, with last orders taken at 12.30.
The format hasn’t changed – for £6 you still choose from a selection of fruit juices, bacon, sausage, black pudding, fried bread, beans, mushrooms and eggs (scrambled or fried) followed by lashings of tea or coffee with toast and marmalade. Children are all welcome and for £3 per head get a selection of fruit juices, cereals and a choice of two cooked items, followed by tea or coffee and toast and marmalade. All proceeds are given to Holy Cross Action Project, which is currently funding the provision of toilet facilities within the Church. This will be a welcome relief to many in the congregation (if you’ll pardon the pun – which was intentional!)
The next Big Breakfast is Saturday 7th February – so please make the date in your diary now.
Another date for your diary is Saturday 24th January at 7 for 7.30 in Byfield Village Hall. This will be our annual Burns Night Supper which is always a terrific night out and sells out very quickly , so to make sure of your tickets, please contact Pam Hicks or Chris Cross very swiftly indeed.
The evening is a traditional Burns Night Supper , complete with salute to the Haggis, which is naturally on the menu, accompanied by Neeps and Tatties, seasonal greens and whisky sauce. If Haggis isn’t your thing – there will be a Venison Casserole with beetroot and red wine served with seasonal vegetables as above. Then for pudding, we will be serving a traditional Raspberry Cranach, drenched in whisky, followed by tea and/or coffee with a wee dram! All this for just £15 per head – that must be a misprint I hear you say! No, we are aiming to beat our current record of 105 suppers last year, so the price remains at £15!! Super value, super fun and a great way to while away a cold January evening.
All proceeds once again will go to the Holy Cross Action project.
I look forward to seeing you at the above events and wish you all a very, very Happy New Year!
