World Class Women’s Cycling Tour on Northant’s Roads
The first ever Women’s Tour cycling event is coming to Northamptonshire on 7th and 8th May 2014.
The Women’s Tour will bring world-class women’s cycling to the UK in the country’s first ever international stage-race, bringing the world’s top riders to compete against Britain’s Olympic heroines.
Over 100 of the best female riders, including past and current Olympic medalists and World Champions representing 17 trade and national teams will be competing to become the first ever Women’s Tour champion.
Competitors include GB riders Laura Trott, Dani King, Joanna Rowsell, Lizzie Armistead and Northamptonshire’s own Hannah Barnes who will all be pitting their skills against multi-time World Champion Marianne Voss, considered by many to be the finest cyclist of her generation.
Northamptonshire County Council is the host partner for stage 1 of the tour. As the host we not only want to promote the tour and encourage people to spectate but we also want the legacy of the tour to continue in the County and encourage women and girls to get involved in sport.
The closest part of the route to Woodford Halse goes through Kislingbury, Rothersthorpe and Milton Malsor on May 7th.
