Woodford can be proud that one of our locals has achieved national success in their sport. By winning the ACU Competition Bike Drag Racing National Championship this year, Lizz McCarthy has become only the second woman ever to win this title.
Running a 1500cc bike, Lizz managed a quarter mile from a standing start in 7.43 seconds and reached 175mph. The result, Lizz’s personal best, makes her the third quickest woman drag racer in Europe!
2013 was a great season for Lizz as she also won the Avon Park International Racers Club Championship and was runner up in the Santa Pod Racers Club Championship.
Lizz is part of the Nitrous Junkie drag racing team along with her partner and mentor, 3 times drag bike championship winner, Kevin Charman, and Kev’s son, Jake. Her bike is a Suzuki GSX running with race fuel and nitrous oxide.
