Village Trees

At last night’s meeting of the Parish Council, the Signpost was asked to pass on a message regarding the village’s trees.

“We know how much everyone values the trees around the village but occasionally it becomes necessary to prune or fell trees for the safety of the public or to ensure long term healthy growth. Felling, pruning, ivy removal and pollarding (as done at the end of 2017 to the trees opposite the Social Club) are carried out by appropriately qualified workers and with full consideration of relevant Tree Preservation Orders. In the case of the Great Central Woodland this is also done under a Management Plan agreed with the Forestry Commission. The Parish Council wishes to reassure residents that only essential work is carried out.”

In addition, the Football Club has confirmed that they will reinstate the recently felled tress near the Byfield-end goal.
