Do you know what’s been going on at Canons Ashby house?
Canons Ashby is the nearest National Trust property to Woodford Halse. It’s an interesting house with beautiful gardens (and has a a very nice tea room!). It was the home of the Dryden family who were responsible for building Woodford’s school (now the Dryden Hall).
Over this winter the National Trust has been working with Museum of London Archaeology to record aspects of the building. You can learn more here.
As well as using traditional drawn and photographic survey techniques to record Canons Ashby, the archaeologists have also carried out a complete laser survey (see earlier update). The data from the laser survey has now been used to create some 3D computer models of several intriguing features within the house.
