Remembrance Sunday Horse Parade : Sunday 9th November
This Sunday, there will be around 16 horses and riders taking a route around Woodford to pay respects to the animals that fell in military service in the 1st World War.
Over one million horses and mules supported the war effort between 1914 and 1918. Woodford riders will commemorate this on Sunday.
Riders and horses will be meeting at 9.30am at the Fleur, leaving at 9.45 down High Street past the school. The parade will proceed right down Scrivens Hill and onto the Byfield Road past the football club. It will then turn right into Phipps Road and carry on down past the Social Club .At that point the horses and riders will join up with the Scouts and a Drummer at Station Court to parade up Station Road.
Finally they will carry on to the Cenotaph at St Mary’s Church, where a wreath of Cornflowers will be laid to remember the fallen animals that lost their lives in the 1st World War.
