Byfield’s Saturday Breakfast For The Holy Cross Action Project
Tim Williams let us have this reminder for the Big Breakfast on November 1st….
“So, here we go again – still great value at £6 per head for adults and £3 per head for children. We had a record number of children last time at 42! Fantastic – we love to see the kiddies. Please encourage more to come!
“The adults can choose a full English breakfast consisting of bacon, sausage, black pudding, baked beans, fried bread, mushrooms and either fried or scrambled eggs. In addition they may choose from several fruit juices, to start and toast with marmalade with tea or coffee to follow. The children may choose from the fruit juices, a selection of cereals, two cooked items and toast with marmalade etc.
“We always have veggie sausages on offer and if you just fancy a lighter breakfast – ask us for whatever of the above you would like. We are very happy to do take-aways of bacon/sausage/egg butties too.
“It is ONLY through your continuing support that this event goes from strength to strength with an average attendance now of around the 180 mark! This is absolutely great of course, but it does mean that at certain times, we are EXTREMELY busy (usually from 11.30 onwards in particular). So, whilst we make every effort to get orders out rapidly, please don’t be surprised if it takes a little longer at times.
“Every penny of profit from the event still goes to the Holy Cross Action Project, which is currently focussed on “operation flush”. If you have ever been in the embarrassing position of being in need of a loo but nowhere near one, you will know how important it is to have a loo at hand. The Church is no different.
“So, don’t forget – this Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. with last orders at 12.30 p.m. Do come to say hello to the valiant galley slaves who struggle through grease, searing heat and piles of dirty dishes to bring you your rations! I’m the one with tongs in one hand, and frying pan in the other with a bewildered look on his face!”
