Highway Warden Wanted

New County Scheme To Improve Our Roads

The Parish is looking for someone to take up the voluntary role of Highway Warden under a new scheme being promoted by Northants County Council.

P1010808aThe aim of the scheme is that the Highway Warden, should become the eyes and ears on the road network within their local area. They will be a key point of contact between their community and Northamptonshire Highways so that any concerns can be reported efficiently.

The Highway Warden may be a councillor, clerk or member of the public so long as their appointment is approved formally by the council.  Once the council has given its approval, the name and contact details of the new Highway Warden are forwarded to Northamptonshire Highways at highwayswardens@mgwsp.co.uk and induction training will be arranged.

Once the new scheme is established, it is hoped that within a relatively short space of time there will be a parish council-appointed Highway Warden in every parish in Northamptonshire

For more details on the role see the handbook produced by Northants County Council: Highway Warden Handbook. Pages 6 & 7 highlight the requirements of the role and the support provided by the County Council. (Note: this PDF file has been produced to allow for double sided printing and so the pages may appear out of sequence)

To apply or to discuss it further contact Gary Smith, the Parish Secretary or June Irani, Council Chair.
